"Salt is good, but if the salt has lost it's saltiness, how will it become salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another." [Mark 9]
It can be tempting to give in to the pressures of the secular world rather than remain steadfast in the convictions of our faith. However, if we can so easily fall to the demands of the world, were we ever truly grounded in our faith? Therefore, let us remain seasoned with the salt our faith.
"Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? Can a fig tree [produce olives], or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water." [James 3]
If we are to be truly effective witnesses of the truth from the Gospel, how can we speak one thing yet do another? We speak about being kind to others and loving others without receiving anything in return, but do we truly love others unconditionally, or do we expect something in return? We say come to me if you need help, but when someone comes to us for help, we are nowhere to be found, and even make excuses why we can't help. What kind of witness is this with regard to our faith which we profess? If we extend an olive branch, do we let go once someone takes hold of the branch? Let us remain true to ourselves so we can maintain our promises.
