While I agree that the use of Merry Christ-mas indicates the recognition of the birth of Christ Jesus into the world, therefore constituting a religious holiday, I disagree that only Christians should feel obligated to greet one another with "Merry Christmas". Christ came so that everyone might receive Him. Therefore let everyone receive the joy of the season by wishing one another a Merry Christmas, however people choose to celebrate this time of year. Just because someone may not believe in, or follow the Christian faith today does not necessarily mean they never will. As believers, we should pray that everyone find the truth of their own free will. Joy to the world, the Lord has come and on earth peace and goodwill toward men (all)! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays throughout this joyous time of year as we remember from whence all things came, and as we look ahead toward a new year.

The Commercialization of the Christmas
I for one am fine with stores using the generic "Happy Holidays" for their store marketing rather than commercialize Christmas. It's fine for families and friends to celebrate the holiday with the exchanging of special gifts this time of year. I am thankful that people from all walks of life use this time to embrace togetherness and cheerfulness. I simply wish that people would slow down and enjoy the season without becoming so involved in the mad rush to get that perfect gift for that special someone. So however you prefer to celebrate, or not celebrate this season, do so with respect to everyone around you and with an attitude of cheerfulness. Bad things happen to good people. We must be considerate and compassionate towards everyone, just as we would also have them be to us. The next person you come in contact with may be going through a really difficult time in their life brought on by a tragedy, or unavoidable circumstance. It could be your smile combined with a warm greeting that brightens their day.

As for me, I do celebrate the coming of my Lord into the world during this special holiday season. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift of love. Thank you all for sharing the season with me.
